A Spooky Sight Jack O' Lantern Ornament by Inge Glas

It is told that long ago in the country of Ireland, a man name Jack liked to spend his days playing tricks on people in his village. One day, Jack played a trick on the wrong person, Satan. Needless to say, this was not a good thing to do. When Jack died, Satan would not allow him into Hell because Jack tricked Satan. Likewise, Jack was not allowed into Heaven because of his interactions with the Devil. Thus, he had to wander the Earth. He was given one piece of coal and legend has it that he carried this ember in a hollowed out turnip forever wandering the Earth. This legend received a new twist when Irish immigrants came to the United States. Here because of the plentiful supply, Jack was imagined as carrying a pumpkin!
